The Perfect Storm

Posted on Sep 9, 2014

Eve with childrenThe Perfect Storm – no, it’s not what you think, not the 30 feet waves in “Deadliest Catch” on Discovery Channel –it’s about the daily routine in my household, it’s about being Mom of three boys, an entrepreneur, you name it! And  all at once starting at 6:00 am and ending at  midnight, 24/7. Give me a break!

In all seriousness though, the only way to survive is to acknowledge that your imperfections can be your strength.

Think about it: you wake up and have your inbox filled with 300 emails but your 3 kids are even louder shouting: Mom….I need you…now!

I have a strict schedule between school, kindergarden, business and me-time with my kids at home and every time something is not as it should be I think of a great interview I read in the New York Times {NYT, Issue 8/10/14, page 2] given by Sarah Barnett, President of SundanceTV. She says: “There is a certain liberation and relief to give yourself permission not to always handle things well, and to create a culture where you can say: ‘Hey, you know what? Maybe I didn’t deal very well yesterday…’ , but here is how to correct the situation.

That’s what I try every day and I hope to reconcile my full inbox with a full diaper and the full expectations of those I love.

Not easy but fulfilling. And I wouldn’t want it any other way. I love the complexity and my full time schedule and I encourage all women out there: you can do it as well…yes YOU can and remember:

Your imperfections can be your strength!
